HOW DO I ABSTAIN FROM SIN?

HOW DO I ABSTAIN FROM SIN?
I Thessalonians 5:22-24
The 22nd says ‘Abstain from every form of evil’ (NKJV)
‘Avoid every kind of evil’ (NIV)
            To abstain means ‘to choose not to do something’. This means it’s a matter of choice, it will be wrong for anyone to say I had no choice, that’s why I did evil. NO! Because it is a choice that led to the evil act, and God makes it clear in His word that it is a deliberate action that will help us escape fulfilling the bid of the evil.

            Then the 23rd verse says ‘NOW may the God of peace Himself sanctify…your whole spirit, soul and body… Mark the word ‘NOW’, this shows that God will not sanctify our spirit, soul and body until we intentionally stop doing evil (i.e. SIN, Gen 39:7-9;
7And after a while his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said, "Come to bed with me!" 8 But he refused. "With me in charge," he told her, "my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. 9No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" NIV).
            Now the question is HOW DO I ABSTAIN FROM SIN?
Jesus taught us how in His lessons on the beatitudes in the book of Mathew 5:3-6
Ø  Be meek (very quiet and gentle and unwilling to argue with people). Meekness helps you to obey God, note ‘…unwilling to argue…’
Ø  See yourself as a spiritual pauper; this will help you to depend on God for spiritual enrichment.
Ø  Always mourn genuinely for your sinful act whenever you’re convinced of it; make a decision not to go back into them.
Ø  Always thirst and hunger for righteousness as this will help you to be less vulnerable to sin.
Ø  And always ask for GRACE to be right with GOD always.

God wants us to live a pure life, hence made all this provision available, lunch into it and start living your God ordained life.

                                                                                                                                                PEACE.
