Parents And Child Discipline
I can't forget the day one of my
uncles who I stayed with to re-
sit for my 'o'level beat me.
(ok,now you know
Princephelar didn't make his
results at a sitting, then
WHAT!). Anyways,like I was
saying, this uncle beat me,not
too many lashes,but the few
were heavy that I felt so
weak,went straight to the
bathroom then straight to bed.
Wait! Before judging
him,here's what I did. I went to
see a movie at a neighbour's
flat,guess what movie... I know
you'll guess wrong, it was EVIL
CULT by Jet Li, and I lied about it.
Here's the essence of sharing
my experience. I'm not saying I
did what was right, in fact he was
right to discipline me,but here's
my say most times
parents don't understand their
kids hence they labour so
much and tend to beat them to
a point of both mental and
physical damage. In this part of
the world, kids automatically
assume their parents'
temperament. In this story of
mine,I left our flat for other flat
cos my uncle is an introvert
and trust Princephelar, I'm an
extreme extrovert, all we have
to watch in our apartment was
majorly baba ara's 40th
birthday musical video(oh,he
liked that video alot),I'm not
complaining though,but me
and that my uncle is a wrong
combination (except if we'll
both learn to adjust our
differences),he eventually told
me to lend the disc and watch
in our own flat (what a good
way to making it up to me).
Here's the point most times
parents don't know some
basic things about their kids
like their favourite activites,kids
they love hanging out with in
the hood etc. Give your kids
reasons not to do what you
instruct them not to do and
you'll have no reason to
scream,beat or yell at them,it's
as simple as saying 'hey Tobi
don't hang out with Jide cos
he's (then your reason). Learn
to explain yourself to them
especially when it involves
rules (trust me,nobody wants
to be driven by the winds of
rules, not even the kids cos they
have there ego too and
destroying it means destroying
their confidence). You can't
know the strength of your kids
if you don't trust them with
some few things and when
you can't explain yourself to
them, let them know it is for
their own good and try not to
be selfish in your
actions,they'll understand and
be willing to give it up for you
cos you've always explain
yourself. What if you tried this
and it's not working? it's
simple,use the CANE, the bible
supports it,just don't use it
when vexed or frustrated.
My respect to all parents,love
ya'll
